Flex Technologies CAC40-400X6 Hot Side Charge Air Boot – 4 in x 6 in Aramid

Quality replacement hot side charge air connector for heavy duty diesel engines. The Flex Technologies CAC40-400X6 is a convoluted silicone charge air hose with three stainless steel retention rings, 4.000 in inside diameter by 6.000 in long. Aramid reinforcement rates it to 500°F, which is what the hot side between the turbo outlet and the charge air cooler requires.

Signs You Need a New Charge Air Boot

• Loss of boost and power, with poor throttle response under load
• Audible whistle or hiss under acceleration
• Boost pressure or charge air system fault codes
• Visible cracking, splitting or soft swollen spots in the silicone
• Oily film weeping at the clamp joints
• Boot blown completely off its tube

This charge air boot is selected by size rather than by vehicle, and fits:

• Hot side charge air piping with a 4 in outside diameter tube
• A 6 in gap between tube ends
• Heavy duty on-highway and vocational diesel engines

Measure the outside diameter of the tube it clamps to and the gap to be spanned before ordering. This is the HOT SIDE boot, rated 500°F and colored iron oxide — do not substitute a cold side boot, which is blue and rated only 350°F. A cold side boot fitted to the turbo outlet will soften, blister and blow off under boost. The matching 4 in x 6 in cold side boot is CAC40P-400X6. Use SAE compliant clamps.
